The Edwards Aquifer Authority is urging San Antonio area residents to implement voluntary water conservation measures in the wake of below-average rainfall and the seasonal rise in demand for water that occurs each spring.
Without significant rainfall, aquifer levels are expected to trigger stage one water restrictions by either the end of April or early May. Stage one requires Edwards Aquifer groundwater withdrawal permit holders to reduce pumping from the aquifer by 20 percent of their allowed limits. The rule would apply to San Antonio Water System and Bexar Metropolitan Water District customers.
