San Antonio ranked fourth on the Top 10 List, largely because of the numerous restaurants, shopping centers and entertainment venues along the five-mile stretch that comprises the San Antonio River Walk. Of course, one can’t forget the Alamo, Livability.com noted.
The city with the No. 1 downtown is Indianapolis. The downtown district is located on six square miles, but has more than 200 retail shops, 35 hotels, nearly 300 restaurants, movie theaters, sports venues, museums, art galleries and parks, according to Livability.com.
“A city’s heart and soul revolves around its downtown district,” says Livability.com spokesman John Hood. “Whether this is a cozy cute town square or a sprawling city scene several blocks long, more often than not, downtown is the center of a community’s culture.”
