Greg G’s ‘Gold Rush’
The video for his common-sense anthem “Wake Up” shows rapper, singer, songwriter and producer Greg G on the rooftops and the streets of New York City, and on the scene of Occupy Wall Street, wearing a San Antonio Missions baseball cap. G, aka Gregary Griffin, comes at rap and hip-hop not with a gangster approach but with a strong streak of spirituality and what the original reggae masters described as consciousness.
The charismatic and committed G on Saturday from 7-10 p.m. will celebrate the release of his “Gold Rush” CD, which includes “Wake Up” and the hip-hop/cumbia “San Antonio,” recorded with Luna Tropical and Kyle Lee, at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, 76 NE Loop 410. Miss Neka will play host. DJ King Mike will spin hip-hop and R&B between sets. “Gold Rush” will be for sale for $10, but Greg G also is offering free downloads. Pay attention to Greg G. He has something positive to say and is good at doing so.
