Spurs Nation » Perkins angry about LBJ’s gloating on Griffin’s dunk

Kendrick Perkins wasn’t amused when LeBron James tweeted his congratulations to Blake Griffin and his spectacular in-your-face dunk over  Perkins last week.

Perkins graciously took the results of the play with little whimpering. But he wasn’t nearly as forgiving after James’ tweet: “Dunk of the Year! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!!! Wow! I guess I’m No. 2 now. Move over #6.”

That tweet prompted an angry response from Perkins to Yahoo.com’s Marc Spears.

“You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting,” Perkins said. “You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play.

“They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.”

Perkins is right about this. And will be interesting to see his reaction when the Thunder and Heat meet for the first time this season March 25.

  1. Haha. LeBron is a marketer, everything he doesn’t has marketing/money in mind. He knew that twitter nation was going to go crazy after the Griffin dunk, so he knew that by tweeting he’d be in the spotlight again. It’s all about money!
