kineta west nile virus National Institutes of Health grant NIH seattle biotechWest Nile Virus has been confirmed at all of San Antonio’s military base installations.

Joint Base San Antonio officials said Monday in a statement that tests for the deadly virus came back positive a few days ago at Lackland, Randolph, Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis. The military began testing for West Nile in mid-July.

Because West Nile Virus is spread by mosquitoes, military officials are planning to step up efforts to fog at the installations. San Antonio residents are also being urged to take precautions by spraying themselves with repellent containing deet and drain any standing water outside homes. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water.

People infected with the virus can develop abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, headache, muscle aches and lack of appetite.

The presence of West Nile Virus is of major concern for the Department of Defense community given the thousands of soldiers, civilians, trainees and contractors that work on San Antonio bases. At least 20 people have died throughout Texas as a result of West Nile Virus.

(Getty Images)IRVING, Texas (AP) — Cowboys coach Jason Garrett says a series of guidelines have been put in place for Dez Bryant to hold the young receiver accountable.

While Garrett didn’t go into specifics Monday, he said the team wants to support Bryant and his family. He says there is a balance in holding players accountable while also wanting to support and help them.

According to numerous reports, Bryant will attend weekly counseling sessions, have a full-time security team and not allowed to consume alcohol or attend strip clubs.

Bryant was arrested in July for allegedly assaulting his mother, who has since said she doesn’t want authorities to pursue charges against him. The Dallas County district attorney’s office has yet to make a decision about charges.
