Philips DesignLine LED 3D TV

When it’s turned off, it looks like a black-to-transparent gradient mirror in the living room. When it’s on, Philips‘ DesignLine LED 3D TV is a cutting-edge, razor-sharp, supermodel-thin entertainment hub. As television continues to evolve, Philips has taken an artistic, minimalist approach to how we consume media, creating their newest TV in the form of a glass sheet. The DesignLine can stand, hang, or lean on any wall (thanks to a newly developed mounting system) and seamlessly connects to home networks to access online content. As early as the second quarter of 2013, Philips’ DesignLine could be available to European and Russian markets in 46″ and 55″ options.

Nike Free 4.0 v2 2013 Spring/Summer Collection

With spring looming, Nike‘s Free 4.0 v2 lineup is set to blossom in new, seasonal colorways for 2013. Designed for that sweet spot between the minimalistic Free 3.0 v4 and more protective Free Run+ 3, the 4.0 v2 — with its 6mm heel-to-toe drop — strikes a nice balance between a barefoot trainer and traditional running silhouette. The shoe’s uppers, meanwhile, feature Nike’s NanoPly overlay technology for a sock-like, but not overly-restrictive fit, and in eight vibrant new color schemes, provide attractive options for outdoor runs in spring weather. Look for the Nike Free 4.0 v2 Spring/Summer 2013 collection at Nike retailers worldwide.

14 People ‘Functionally Cured’ of HIV

The medical world is inching closer to a cure for HIV/AIDS. ABC News reports that 14 people in France have been “functionally cured” of the virus.

Fourteen patients who were treated within the first two months of infection were later able to stop combination antiretroviral therapy without an HIV rebound, according to Asier Sáez-Cirión of the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

While all 14 still have HIV, in most cases it can only be detected with ultrasensitive laboratory tests and is undetectable by standard methods, Sáez-Cirión and colleagues reported in the journal PLoS Pathogens.

But in all cases, the infection appears to be under control without the use of drugs – the definition of a functional cure, which unlike a “sterilizing” cure does not completely get rid of HIV.

Nike Unveils the White-On-White Air Foamposite One

Sixteen years after its initial introduction, the Nike Air Foamposite One has maintained a massive amount of popularity thanks to its rugged and futuristic looks, bold colorways, and association with Penny Hardaway. Originally released in 1997 and designed by Nike Basketball‘s Eric Avar with inadvertent inspiration from a molded sunglasses case, the Foamposite One is returning this very month in a brand new white-on-white colorway. Billed as the “cleanest yet,” the White/White-Metallic Silver edition of the late ’90s kicks pairs a tonal upper of white Foamposite, nubuck, and mesh with matching laces, metallic silver branding, a carbon fiber shank, and a translucent rubber outsole. The crisp all-white Nike Air Foamposite One will be available from Nike Sportswear accounts across the globe on March 29 for $220 USD.
