Last month, Showtime took its Championship Boxing series to a sold-out Alamodome. It’s bringing the series back to San Antonio this summer with a three-bout card billed as “Knockout Kings II.”
Golden Boy Promotions, along with Leija & Battah Promotions, are bringing the Showtime event to San Antonio.
“Texas is our new home away from …,” says Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions.
“We look forward to hosting multiple mega-fights yearly,” says Leija & Battah Promotions President Mike Battah.
Spurs Sports & Entertainment, parent company of the NBA Spurs, manages AT&T Center, which is owned by Bexar County. Rick Pych, president of SS&E, expects that the Showtime event will draw a large crowd to the East Side arena.
“San Antonio is a city that truly appreciates and supports boxing in a big way, and this is a terrific opportunity for fight fans to witness three world-class bouts in an arena setting,” Pych says.
