Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum all in it together.

(ThyBlackMan.com)  Manny Pacquiao met with Bob Arum today in the Philippines and made a decision about who he’ll be fighting next in late May or early June.

Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao haven’t spilled the beans yet as to who it will be but it’s either Arum’s gang of four – Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley and Lamont Peterson – or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

If Manny Pacquiao picks one of the four fighters that Bob Arum wants him to  fight  of the four then it’s pretty clear that Arum likely talked Manny Pacquiao into facing one of them rather than the arguably much more dangerous Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It’s not that Floyd Mayweather Jr is a threat to knock Pacquiao out, because Manny Pacquiao probably could get through a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr still on his feet. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is dangerous is because he’s so much better than Manny Pacquiao in terms of skills and would probably win every round in a 12 round fight against him. A loss like that for Manny Pacquiao could be disastrous to Arum because he may have a hard time selling his fights on pay per view after a loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Would the average fan still want to pay to see Manny Pacquiao after Floyd Mayweather Jr exposes him? I have my doubts.

I really don’t think Arum had to do much arm twisting to get Manny Pacquiao to pick one of his gang of four because all he would have to do is point out the obvious about what could happen with Manny Pacquiao’s future PPV fights if Floyd Mayweather Jr whips him. I think Pacquiao will gladly accept whichever fighter Arum wants him to. Arum probably picked Cotto or Timothy Bradley.

Both of them are Top Rank fighters and that makes things easier for Bob Arum. I see Bradley getting the pick because he would likely be willing to accept smaller money than Cotto, and that means more money for Manny Pacquiao.

Apple iPad 3 Leaked Details

Apple iPad 3 Leaked Details

Just as the Consumer Electronics Show was winding down in Las Vegas, Bloomberg has three people claiming they have intimate details about the Apple iPad 3. Among the “unconfirmed,” yet tangible rumors, is that it went into production this month with a launch coming in March. It will have a quad-core CPU (as opposed to the dual-core A5 found in iPad 2) as well as a “high-def” screen. The new display is capable of greater resolution than the current version, with more pixels on its screen than some high-definition televisions. The introduction of the new iPad will be Apple’s first major hardware release since the death of company co-founder Steve Jobs in October.

‘Drum major’ quote on MLK memorial to be corrected

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

WASHINGTON (CNN) –

A controversial quote inscribed in the granite of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall will be corrected, an official at the Interior Department confirmed to CNN.

News of the change to the so-called “drum major” line was first reported Friday afternoon in the Washington Post.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has given the National Park Service 30 days to consult with the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, members of the King family and others to decide on a more accurate version of the quote, the official said.

The quote holds a prominent place among more than a dozen King’s most notable lines at the site.

The memorial site features a commanding 30-foot statue of King, arms folded across his chest, emerging from a “Stone of Hope.”

The quote in question is inscribed on one side of the stone. The abbreviated and paraphrased version of the line sparked controversy last summer when acclaimed poet and author Maya Angelou said it made the civil rights leader appear to be arrogant.

The line reads: “I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness.”

In fact, King’s original words, from a 1968 sermon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, were: “If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.”

Angelou said that leaving out the “if” changes the meaning. In an interview in October, Martin Luther King III said the quote would be changed, but did not elaborate.

“It’s going to be corrected. First of all is what we understand. But I don’t know exactly how it got to that place. That was not — number one, that was not what dad said,” he told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield. “The issue is addressed, because it’s going to be corrected.”

Now the Interior Department is taking action.
