Programs participating include Duke, North Carolina, UConn (men and women), Florida, Syracuse, Arizona, Kentucky and Baylor (women’s). Nike created the uniforms specifically for superior performance and lower environmental impact. Federal student loan rate set to double

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) – Attention college students: The interest rate on federal student loans is scheduled to double this summer unless Congress acts soon.

Loans taken out for the current school year carried an interest rate of 3.4%, thanks to a 2007 law that phased in rate reductions for subsidized Stafford loans to undergraduate students. But the law did not specify the rate after this year. So unless something is done, rates will revert back to 6.8% — where they were in 2007.

President Obama urged lawmakers in his State of the Union address Tuesday to stop this rate hike from going into effect. He also asked Congress to extend the enhanced Hope Scholarship program, which increased the maximum tax credit to $2,500. And he wants to double the number of federal work-study jobs.

But it remains to be seen whether this deficit-conscious Congress will act, especially since extending the 3.4% rate would cost $5.6 billion a year, according to Mark Kantrowitz, publisher of FinAid.org. All told, Obama’s proposals would total at least $10 billion a year.

While the president has focused on expanding access to college for low- and middle-income children, lawmakers have taken several steps to whittle away at student aid.

Chris Rock Inspired By The Throne… Might tour with Dave Chapelle

Chris Rock wants to hit the road again and bring Dave Chappelle along for the ride. In fact, he tells Vulture that he was inspired by Jigga and Kanye and their collaborative effort.

“I’ve been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour. You know I’m not the hard one laughing. But I’m trying to make that happen. After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, ‘Me and Dave should do this.’ Hell yeah! Rock doesn’t have a name for the tour yet, but he’s probably open to suggestions, right?”

Ne-Yo Leaves Def Jam and Joins Motown

Ne-YoPlatinum-selling singer/songwriter Ne-Yo will be parting ways from Def Jam and joining Motown Records as an artist and senior VP of A&R, according to Billboard.biz. He will also be bringing along his Compound Entertainment imprint to the label as well, where he will serve as a producer and mentor to Motown artists and assist in the search for new talent.

“I’m honored that I’ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility; terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson — these are big shoes to fill. But trust, I can handle it,” said Ne-Yo on the news.

Universal Republic and Island Def Jam Motown chairman/CEO Barry Weiss and senior VP of Motown Ethiopia Habtemariam released a joint statement on the announcement with high hopes.

“His track record of success at Def Jam will always be a benchmark,” said Weiss. “But this move to Motown will provide new and inspiring challenges for Ne-Yo as both an artist and a key member of the new senior management team that is taking form at the label in 2012.”

Habetemariam added: “We are committed to discovering, developing and nurturing R&B/soul superstars here at Motown. In Ne-Yo we have both a global superstar and arguably one of the best songwriters in music. His presence on the executive team only strengthens our commitment to be the very best in R&B.”

Ne-Yo is slated to make Motown debut with his forthcoming fifth studio album this coming summer, as well as appearing on the upcoming season of NBC’s ‘The Voice’.

Xbox 720 Will Be Six Times as Powerful as Current Gen – IGN

The next Xbox will ship to retailers in late October or early November of next year with six times the processing power of the Xbox 360, sources close to the project have told IGN.

Following initial reports from tech blogs Fudzilla and SemiAccurate, our sources have confirmed that mass production of the system’s GPU will indeed begin by the end of 2012 but will not, however, be based on AMD’s 7000 series Southern Islands GPU. Instead, the processor will be derived from the 6000 series, which was introduced last year. More specifically, it will be akin to the Radeon HD 6670, which offers support for DirectX11, multidisplay output, 3D and 1080p HD output. The chip currently has a market price of upwards of $79.99.

In real terms, the Xbox 720’s raw graphics processing power is expected to be six times that of the Xbox 360 and will yield 20-percent greater performance than Nintendo’s forthcoming console, the Wii U.

Developers are likely to receive development kits based on the system’s final configuration in August. Projected pricing for the console was not provided.
